How to use this tool

  1. Select up to 10 still JPG, PNG or WebP images. The limits are 20 MB per file and 60 MB for the whole batch.
  2. Choose an output format and adjust quality for JPG or WebP. Set a maximum width or height if you need smaller pixel dimensions.
  3. For a file-size limit, enter a target maximum in KB. Allow further dimension reduction only if a smaller image is acceptable.
  4. Run compression and check the resulting size, dimensions and appearance. Download the files you want individually or in a ZIP; keep the originals if the results do not suit your needs.

Ways to use it

Work towards a form upload limit
Enter a maximum such as 200 KB or 500 KB, then check whether the result meets it. Confirm the form also accepts the output format and dimensions.
Prepare smaller email attachments
Reduce the size of several photos before attaching them to an email. Check that any text and details the recipient needs remain readable.
Resize oversized website images
Set a maximum pixel width or height for a batch of website images. The tool preserves their proportions without enlarging smaller originals.

Supported files and limits

  • Supported input and output formats are still JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP. HEIC, GIF, SVG, PDF and animated images are not supported.
  • Each image is limited to 24 megapixels and 16,384 pixels on either side. Available device memory can impose a lower practical limit.
  • A target size is a maximum to work towards, not an exact output size or a promise. An already compressed image may not shrink, and a new export can be larger.
  • Lower quality or smaller dimensions can remove detail. Do not rely on exported files to retain original metadata, colour profiles or print settings.
  • Files are processed in your browser. The tool does not upload your images or store them on a server; download the results you need before leaving the page.

Common questions

Can I compress an image to 200 KB or another specific limit?

Enter the limit as your target maximum in KB. The tool attempts to create a file at or below it and reports whether that worked. Some images need lower quality or fewer pixels to fit, and the target cannot always be reached.

What is the difference between compression and resizing?

Compression aims to reduce the file size. Resizing changes the number of pixels in the image. You can adjust JPG or WebP quality while keeping the dimensions, or allow smaller dimensions when the file needs to be reduced further.

Can I reduce a PNG without changing its format?

Yes, you can keep PNG as the output format. The quality control does not apply to PNG, so reducing dimensions may be needed to make it smaller. At the original dimensions, a new PNG export is not guaranteed to save space.

What should I do if the result misses the target or is larger?

Check whether smaller dimensions or lower JPG/WebP quality are acceptable. You can also try another format if the receiving application supports it. If the result loses too much detail or offers no saving, keep your original instead.

Will the tool stretch or enlarge my image?

No. Width and height settings are maximum bounds, and the original proportions are preserved. Smaller originals are not enlarged. Further resizing to reach a target file size happens only when you allow dimension reduction.

Does JPG compression keep a transparent background?

JPG cannot store transparency. Transparent areas use the background colour you select. Use PNG or WebP if the output needs transparency, then check whether the result also meets your file-size limit.

Are my images uploaded or changed on my device?

The tool processes selected files in the browser without uploading them or storing server copies. It creates downloadable results and does not overwrite the source files. Keep the originals if you need their metadata or full detail.
